Campfire Adventure Club is an initiative designed to provide an equitable and inclusive outdoor experience for folks who may not have the means or opportunity to camp. This annual weekend camping trip invites families to apply for a guided adventure along the Fonta Flora State Trail, offering them a chance to connect with nature, learn outdoor skills, and build lasting memories in a supportive environment.

This program is intentionally designed to promote inclusivity and equity in outdoor recreation. By inviting families from diverse backgrounds to participate, Campfire Adventure Club fosters a sense of community and belonging in nature. Through guided hikes, campfire storytelling, and hands-on learning, participants will build confidence in their outdoor abilities while developing an appreciation for the environment.

The Campfire Adventure Club not only supports F3ST’s mission to connect people to the Fonta Flora State Trail but also contributes to a more inclusive outdoor community by welcoming those who have historically been underrepresented in outdoor spaces.

Many families face barriers to outdoor recreation, including the cost of equipment, lack of experience, and limited access to safe, welcoming spaces. Campfire Adventure Club addresses these challenges by providing everything needed for a successful camping experience. F3ST covers the cost of camping sites, supplies tents and sleeping mats, and ensures that all meals are included. By removing financial and logistical obstacles, this initiative creates an accessible entry point for families new to camping.

Campfire Adventure Club 2024

Campfire Adventure Club launched in 2024 in partnership with Latinos Aventureros en las Carolinas, bringing together 70 campers at Lake James State Park – Paddy’s Creek.

Participants shared meals, danced, and connected through stories around the campfire, creating a vibrant exchange of cultures.

Guided hikes and discussions on trail safety with State Park staff enriched the experience, fostering a sense of community and outdoor stewardship. It was an unforgettable weekend of learning, laughter, and connection.

We had the BEST time!
