Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina is helping move the Fonta Flora State Trail forward by purchasing needed property and holding trail easements. A land trust can move much more quickly that state or local government. FCNC also has a representative on our F3ST Executive Committee and on our F3ST Advisory Council.
To the west of Camp Crier, FCNC helped with the land acquisition, transferring the property to the state and holding the trail easement. The also headed up trail construction and volunteer workdays. The Copper Ridge Trail will be open once designated by the state.
The 12.7 acre parcel is key to connecting the greenway in Marion. Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina was able to act quickly on the land purchase that will be transferred to local government.
